Helmet Masks All of our ceramics areThe Bozo people, famous for their fishing are located predominantly along the Niger River in Mali and known as the masters of the river. They preserve a number of animist traditions and believe that objects, places and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence. This pair of masks are hand carved from wood with brass details and represent a male and female. They would have traditionally been worn on the head during ceremonies.
