This is an improvisational piece inspired by my recollections of growing up in southern Wisconsin

when just a fraction of a second could make all of the difference visually

Amethyst Sky We can imagine infinite possibilitiesI've always been interested in the "puzzle piece" patterns of light and dark shapes within subjects, and in my recent works I'm exploring this interest to a greater extent. With this subject from Lower Manhattan in New York City, I enjoyed the added effect of a super cool rim light on the sunlit pedestrians. I caught this moment during a mild late fall afternoon, when the steep angle of the sunlight yields dramatic and fun shadows.
