This would have been worn by a field phone operator and contained some basic wire laying tools as well as a message tablet and pencil. It is in typical condition for one of these pouches; ie. fairly worn. The leather is soft and flexible but sort of dry. The stitching is fairly rotten and appears to have started blowing out even when it was still in active use as there is some thick black thread along the
