Mellish Bakenkop Chenin Blanc 2024 1971 Distilled on 10 October 1969DESCRIPTION From a vineyard planted in 2017 on the south facing slopes of Bakenkop hill, just 9 km from the Atlantic Ocean, this Chenin Blanc grows in decomposed shale soils at 100130m elevation. Farmed organically since its inception, the site yields low crops of concentrated fruit. Grapes were hand harvested on 31 January 2024 and whole bunch pressed, followed by overnight settling and fermentation in old French oak (1300L and 1500L). Wild yeast
